KUU
KUU was born of a dream: to bring the moon to the Luminale. It is the first Luminale light object and a contribution towards inclusion and the participation of people with disabilities.
The light is produced by the fwg, (frankfurter werk gemeinschaft e.V.). A social nonprofit association, fwg offers the mentally ill and disabled a wide range of opportunities for social and professional participation. The limited-edition was made by hand in the fwg workshop and all donations for the light object will be going to the fwg.

KUU is a lightweight, atmospheric light object. Its circular shape and texture, visible when the light is switched on, is reminiscent of the moon. In Finnish, is name “KUU” stands for the fascination of the moon. Due to its sophisticated production method and materialspecific use, the object is integrated within its packaging. The lantern is made of a non-tear, recyclable material, and dimmable LED elements illuminate it from within. A USB cable is provided for charging. Thanks to the integrated magnets on the underside of the lamp, it adheres to metallic surfaces. An instruction manual for the LED element, the USB cable, and a straw for “blowing the lantern into shape” are to be found on the side of the packaging. To blow the lampshade into shape, the straw is carefully inserted max. 1 cm deep into the hole in the lampshade above the operating element. To remove the lamp from the carrying bag, the perforation can be carefully cut with scissors.

KUU is the first light object at Luminale that visitors can take home with them.
