The ‘Frankfurt Lampion’ accompanies the 100th anniversary of New Frankfurt as a shining symbol of community, participation and urban identity. Inspired by the first lantern festival in 1931, two festivals will be held annually from 2025 to 2030in the settlements of New Frankfurt. The neighbourhoods will be festively illuminated, and the specially designed lantern will build an atmospheric bridge between the past and the present.
Inspired by the design language of the New Objectivity movement of the 1920s, the Frankfurt Lantern is a clearly designed, rectangular paper shade made from coated special paper. Easy to hang in just a few simple steps, it invites you to transform gardens, balconies and streets into atmospheric meeting places. The sides of the lampshade move gently in the wind, creating a lively lighting effect.
The folding technique makes it easy to unfold the lantern after unpacking – it can also be folded up again to save space and stored away. A transparent plate is inserted into the bottom of the shade for stabilisation and hanging.
