Patterned Houses is a series of carved wooden houses created in collaboration with Schnitzstube Stadlhofer for Vienna Design Week 2025. The project explores the dialogue between traditional woodcarving and contemporary design by transforming stacked wooden crates into a small architectural settlement. Each house is composed of carved ornamental facades, with every level dedicated to a different carving technique or pattern. Scaled, layered, and reinterpreted, the ornaments reveal the richness of alpine craftsmanship in a new architectural context.

Rather than preserving craftsmanship as heritage, Patterned Houses treats ornament as a living language. The carved surfaces are enlarged, condensed, and reassembled until decoration becomes architecture and architecture becomes narrative. The result is a collectible landscape of unique wooden structures that sits somewhere between sculpture, architectural model, and cultural artifact. It is an invitation to look closer: at the hand that carved the wood, the history embedded in the patterns, and the unexpected future that emerges when tradition is transformed through design.
